As we all know, sometimes video game developers don’t give us exactly what we expected. Basically, the failure of any game is no longer the fault of the players, but of the developers, who force us to expect a revolution in the gaming industry from them.
Today I would like to tell you about several such cases.
Of course, a clear example when, instead of a masterpiece, we are served just a good game is Watch Dogs. Masterpiece graphics, original idea, incredible features and open world. This is exactly what players thought after the presentation of the new Ubisoft project at E3 2012.
You know the result. But still, despite the fact that everything is going smoothly for Rockstar so far, it should already be afraid, because according to rumors, Ubisoft has already started developing Watch Dogs 2 and the second part could be a correction of all the mistakes made by the developers.
Another disappointing game of 2014. It’s the same as with Watch Dogs. The game is good, but again everything was ruined by PR (the game was actively promoted by Sony). The project was announced as a huge MMO game. Huge budget allocated to support the game (500 lyams). Perhaps it’s not just about the company’s PR, but also about the publisher (it was Activision). Many expected a breakthrough in the genre, but it never came.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
The ending of the story of Soap and Price’s soldiers. "It will be something!" – the players thought. Unfortunately, the game was not as warmly received as the first Modern Warfare and the second part. The game received mixed reviews from critics and gamers. The main reason for the dislike of MW3 is the layoffs of Infinity Ward employees. The plot was much weaker than the previous parts. There was only one tragic moment in the game. The gameplay and missions were monotonous (there were still exceptions). By the way, those same employees split up and founded new studios. A good example would be Respawn with its Titanfall.
Assasin’s Creed: Unity
This is the third game in 2014 that did not live up to our hopes. And the second one from Ubisoft (Coincidence?). This time the game was not accepted, most likely not because of PR, but rather because of optimization and bugs. As soon as the new assassin was released, a huge number of videos appeared on YouTube showing bugs and other funny things in Unity. Fortunately, the bugs were fixed with patches, but this did not change the players’ opinion about Unity. Well, let’s hope that the Syndicate does not repeat the fate of its predecessor.
There were high hopes for the game. Developer Id Software (creators of Doom, if anyone doesn’t know). In theory, another masterpiece should have been released, but no. The game turned out to be passable. The game had both pros and cons, but there were a little more cons. The game is not bad, but nothing more. What players disliked the game the most was. That’s why they decided to cancel the sequel of the game.
But it all started well..
Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2012 https://bellacasinoonline.co.uk
Blatant mockery of our beloved Most Wanted. The game was developed by Criterion Games, which is primarily known for the good Burnout series. After their 2010 Hot Pirsuit, they were tasked with developing the MW reboot. The main problem with the game: it’s sooooo boring. The game collects all the favorite features of the first Most Wanted, but it is done so carelessly that battles with bosses and even chases from cops are very, very boring. We hope that Criterion Games can restore its reputation by releasing its new project, which was announced at last E3.
The Order: 1886
Perhaps the only problem with the game is the price. Look, there is a discount on Order right now. The game can be purchased for 1749 rubles, but 4999 is somehow too much. The game looks more like a 5 hour movie rather than a game. Thus, you don’t have time to play enough. But for a debut it’s not so bad, but it could have been better.
"Revolution in multiplayer!" – they shouted. But no! The game turned out to be too monotonous, boring, and it doesn’t offer anything revolutionary. The game costs a maximum of 100 rubles, no more. Although the game itself, initially, was supposed to be a 4toplay game. Chances are the studio can’t cope without Mike Booth. And I can’t even believe that this studio developed Left 4 Dead. Oh yes, judging by the latest information, the studio is developing a new AAA project.
Aliens: Colonial Marines
The project was announced back in 2008, but it only reached the shelves at the beginning of 2013. Oh… what a fuss there was around this game. It’s worth noting that the game was postponed more than once, there were even rumors that the project was frozen. The only plus of the game is multiplayer. Everything in the game is relatively bad! Just look at the graphics and textures! Vanomas is shocked. Dumb plot and AI. In short, a huge failure for SEGA.
Now everything has come to its logical conclusion. It seems like this didn’t happen at StopGame, or maybe it did, I don’t know. If you liked it, put a plus on the article, and if not, minus.

No. I mean yes, but no. As long as Rockstar has a working world in which they don’t need to shove a hundred chests into for the player to find something to do, they are beyond competition. Assassins, Watch Dogs and other Ubisoft-made games are a hundred chests in an open space. And this is not competition.
In terms of money, maybe they’ve put together something there in about five years that’s roughly approaching GTU sales, but we’re not talking about money. Maybe. At least I. :3
Stamp set. The Witcher didn’t live up to my expectations. I expected him to go with me, but he didn’t, however. )
A well-worn topic: “Games that don’t live up to expectations”. As much as possible? This could be turned into a permanent column. Once a month. Every year games come out and half of them are not what they were advertised to be.
The same Watch Dogs – Yubiki carried out advertising very competently, but they never promised a cool plot, awesome graphics, etc.d. They showed a demo, just like CDProject did at one time (the first trailer for The Witcher 3). Both companies ended up not selling what they showed. The only difference is that the first ones actually asked the players: “Guys, do you need an Assassin in a modern setting?"And the second ones were just in a hurry.
We can only congratulate Yubikov for this – for launching a new franchise with minimal costs. If you remember, it was the same with the first assassin.
And how can you scold for PR?? Whose fault is it that the players bought into it?? There are a lot of games that didn’t sell a lot of copies because of “zero” advertising?
Evolve is a great game, it’s just more for eSports than for regular users. MW3, why did they remember it?? There’s Ghost, Advanced Warfare, Call of Duty 3 after all.
I’m boiling over articles like this. Zero work. Minimum text. Well-deserved minus. Catch.

You see, Watch Dogs and, uh, Destiny really didn’t live up to expectations
Everything else, roughly speaking, was not expected by anyone, because these were conveyors, endless continuations, or everything was clear from the videos
You should go deeper into the story about real failures that someone was counting on, and not quickly write a blog about games from a 2-3-year period)
Basically, the failure of a game, this is no longer the fault of the players, but of the developers who forced we can expect a revolution in the gaming industry from them.
I don’t even understand why THe Order appears in such conversations. Why did people even expect anything from her?? O_o I initially perceived it as a large-scale tech demo for PS4, and not as a full-fledged game.
The real hope breakers are the games that ruin your favorite series (new parts of Sonic and Silent Hill). And the more bad there are, the less chance there is of something good. Do you believe. And even if everyone has specific tastes, then to say that Hamyacoming (for example) is better than the old parts would be uncivilized. Another thing is that these games were not particularly well-known, which made me want to believe even more that a miracle would happen. And games that are well advertised like Call of Duty or Assassin Creed are obvious smashers. The obvious is usually not stated.
In fact, it would be better to write about games that never saw the light of day. This is an interesting topic. In part (remember the same Silent Hill) it also breaks all our hopes and dreams.
