Hello dear gamers and female gamers, today I would like to tell you about the already fading genre of games, rhythm games. I think today everyone has heard enough jokes about press X to win in modern games – well, this is the basis of all rhythm games.
The essence of the rhythm game is that music is playing that is pleasant or unpleasant to your ears, strange circles of different colors fall from top to bottom on the screen of your console/PC/your other gaming device, and the gamer must press the buttons corresponding to these same circles. Moreover, they do not necessarily press with their fingers – depending on the platform and the game, you need to use your arms, legs, styluses, or, if you play with Kinect, perform various movements.
How can such a simple and seemingly boring concept of games attract people?? Let’s leave this question for modern philosophers, such games are simply addictive and for some reason do not get boring.
Only the Japanese could be the first to invent and create something like this in the gaming industry – and it really was them; in 1996, PaRappa the Rapper was born – the first, according to English Wikipedia, a full-fledged rhythm game. From the same Wikipedia I learned that this creation was released on PS1 (later the game was ported to PSP), PaRappa the Rapper even had some semblance of a plot and success.
This is perhaps the world’s most famous slot machine Dance Dance Revolution, created by KONAMI in 1998. Dance Dance Revolution was not KONAMI’s first dance machine, but it was definitely the most popular. Naturally, it was created shitload very, very many clones, for example, the American In The Groove, or the Korean Pump To.In Japan, Dance Dance is generally considered a cult.
And now we come to the moment when rhythm games came into their full growth; in 2005, the Harmonics studio released the first Guitar Hero. The game is a wild success, Guitar Hero 2 and Guitar Hero 3 are released (by the way, the best-selling game of 2007), Guitar Hero 4, Guitar Hero 5, and finally Guitar Hero 6.In addition, to the delight of fans, games in the series were released dedicated only to songs of certain groups, such as Metalica, Green Day, Aerosmith.
And again there were www.blackjackballroom-casino.uk many, many clones, the brightest of which was Rock Band, but there were also..
In these types of games, music is of the utmost importance, and in Guitar Hero it’s amazing. In my humble opinion, of course.

A game that combines such genres as strategy, a god simulator and a rhythm game may seem strange to you, but it exists, Patapon exists, and at one time it pulled me in almost deeper than Rock Band..

It’s quite difficult to explain the gameplay of this game, it can be roughly divided into two stages.
In the first, the player buys new units (by the way, there are quite a lot of classes: infantry, archers, cavalry, musicians and berserkers, in the second part, it seems, there were even magicians), pump them up, buy weapons, etc. d.
The second stage is a battle, and here everything is more complicated: we have four reels (triangle, square, circle and cross), which each correspond to their own sound (Pata, Pon, Don and Chaka). With different combinations of reels, we, in fact, control our small army. It looked something like this: We press square, square, triangle, square in turn, we hear the song of our little friends: PON-PON-PATA-PON and everyone goes forward. We dial another combination – PATA-PATA-PATA-PON – and they go into battle. There were also teams of defense, retreat, assault, etc.d., in general, the game is more thoughtful than it seems at first glance.
A total of three parts of the game were released, each of which I completed with great pleasure, all are exclusive to the old PSP.
Then in 2008 Audiosurf was released and… I don’t know anything about it, since for some reason I didn’t play it at the time. I can only say that on Steam the game is the best-selling game of 2008, and that means something.
But alas, starting in 2009, people began to lose interest in games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Guitar Hero 6 sold terribly, Rock Band The Beatles, which had high hopes, did not live up to its promise. There is a lull in the rhythm game genre again..
Today, such games can only be called popular on portable devices; these are games on iOS and Android like Tap Tap, Deemo, Piano Master.
That’s probably all I wanted to tell you about rhythm games. Perhaps all that remains is to add about the attitude of most gamers towards this genre: lackluster. In my early childhood, when I saw a friend playing Rock Band, I didn’t understand how anyone could play something like that. However, when I picked up the gamepad, I realized how ingenious and simple it is – to listen to your favorite music at the same time, and make a simple movement by pressing buttons on the gamepad.
